Framed Chamonix Mont-Blanc Ski Poster — Vintage Reproduction of the c.1910 PLM French Alps Poster by Tamagno
A man and a woman soar side by side on long wooden skis, arms outstretched, high above the rooftops of Chamonix with Mont Blanc rising behind them — the joyful artwork Francisco Tamagno created for the PLM railway (Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée) around 1910. The poster advertises Chamonix's winter sports competitions — "Sports d'Hiver: Concours Ski-Luge-Patin-Bobsleigh" — and the express trains with direct carriages from Paris and Geneva that brought the first winter tourists to the valley.
Please note: this is a vintage lithographed REPRODUCTION of the famous poster, reduced in size from the original — the visible image measures approximately 22 x 16 in. It is matted and framed under glass in a wood frame (32 x 25 in overall), ready to hang, and is sold framed exactly as shown.
A wonderful piece for a ski chalet, lodge great room, mountain cabin, or any room that wants a shot of classic alpine winter. The big red Chamonix lettering and the sweep of snow carry beautifully across a room.
