A 19th century wood carved sculpture of a Hessian soldier — nice detail and original paint. Measures 14.25"H x 4.5"W. Old repairs to arms. The term "Hessians" refers to the approximately 30,000 German troops hired by the British to fight during the American Revolution, principally drawn from Hesse-Cassel. A fine military collectible for a study, library, or history collection.
